A Subscription Account Number (SAN) is an identification number that is required to access the Do Not Call (DNC) registry. This is important if you plan to do DNC scrubs of your lead lists.

You must obtain your SAN from the FCC. You cannot obtain one through smrtPhone, but we want to help you with this process, so read on to learn how you can get one.

The SAN itself is similar to a profile ID and then you must register for the specific area codes to which you will be calling. The first 5 area codes are free, and then there is an annual subscription fee for additional ones (currently $65 per area code, per year.)

Steps to get a SAN

  1. From a web browser, go to https://telemarketing.donotcall.gov/

  2. Select Register New Users

  3. Complete the Organization Information profile, which asks basic demographics such as name, address, city, state, zip code

  4. Enter either an EIN or a SSN

  5. Enter your phone number

  6. Select your function (for most smrtPhone clients, this will be a Seller)

  7. Determine who will be your company's representative for the SAN

  8. Click Submit

  9. Read the Certification Agreements

  10. Select Yes I agree

  11. Click Certify

At this point, your profile will be submitted, but there are more steps to take to secure your SAN:

  • Record the Organization ID and passwords on the screen.

  • Look for an email from donotcall.gov to verify your email. Follow the instructions in the email. This must be done within 7 business days or your profile will be deactivated.

  • Once you have followed the instructions, you will receive your baseline SAN within one business day.

Register Area Codes

Once your SAN profile is complete, you must identify the area codes to which you will be calling and register them to your profile.

  1. Select Manage/Renew Subscriptions from the left navigation within the National Do Not Call Registry

  2. Log in using the credentials from your registration

  3. Click Subscribe to Area Codes or Add Area Codes to Your Current Subscription

  4. Follow the prompts to select the states & area codes you want

You can always go back and add View Area Codes that are on your profile and Add Area Codes by going to https://telemarketing.donotcall.gov/ and logging in as a current user.

What do I do with my SAN?

Please keep your SAN ready and available with your business records.

smrtLeads subscribers will need to enter your SAN to be allowed to do DNC scrubbing of lead lists.
