If you don't have a CRM at all or you don't have one that directly connects with smrtPhone, you can still create and use a fully functional smrtPhone account.
There will be some small differences between a user that connects a CRM and this type of account, but the central features are the same.
All the details about creating the account are in our article How to set up a smrtPhone account. In this article, we will explain the differences and the different steps that have to be taken.
1. Start Trial Form
Go to the Start Trial form from smrtphone.io and click on the green Start Trial button. From the drop-down menu, pick I don't have a CRM option.
You can create the new smrtPhone account from a browser on any device you want, as long as you have access to all required spaces.
2. Select smrtPhone
In the next window, because you chose the no CRM option, now you only have to continue with the customization, press Start Setup.
3. Upload Contacts
In this step, you can upload your contact list. Click to upload or drag and drop your file. Then Save and Continue.
You can also hit Skip for now and upload it later from the Contacts Page on your smrtPhone Dashboard > Admin.
You can only add one file at this point, but you can add more later.
Download the template from the pop-up window and fill in the details for your contacts. Save it and then upload it back here. Duplicate contacts within the file will be searched by the phone numbers and then skipped.
For a clean working upload, only use the template offered by smrtPhone.
If you decide to upload another list later, you can head back to the Contacts Page on your smrtPhone Dashboard > Admin and import another file. Of course, you can also enter one contact at a time if you don't have a whole list.
If you have any duplicate contacts in this list, the system will recognize them and merge them.
4. Select Plan for After Trial
Your smrtPhone Trial is free, although limited in functionality. The Trial will automatically convert to a live subscription, so you must select which plan you want to activate when the Trial ends.
β
A trial can end either by reaching the end of the trial period or by a manual activation at any time. (A large percentage of smrtPhone customers activate immediately!) If you don't want to remove trial limitations and experience the full features of smrtPhone, you must actively cancel the Trial.
Each plan comes with its benefits and different costs and is charged at the Account, not the User level. Transactional usage is your responsibility and is deducted from a shared pool across your account. (We start you off with some funds to get your first number, make some calls and send some texts!) Keep this in mind as you will not be charged a subscription fee for the Trial period, but you still need to add your card details if you want to top up your balance and for an easier transition when the trial ends.

Getting a CRM
If you have a No CRM / standalone smrtPhone account created, and want to connect it with a CRM later, it is no problem.
These changes are available to and can only be completed by the Account Owner.
Access Admin > Account Settings and then click the blue button on the top right corner - Connect a CRM. You will be redirected to the initial setup page to configure the changes you want to be done on your account.
It is also possible to switch to another CRM or go back to no CRM from the same spot.
What's Next?
After you set up your standalone smrtPhone account, you must follow all of the same onboarding steps of purchasing phone numbers, inviting users, and customizing your inbound flows (voice and SMS). Don't forget to download the Chrome Extension and install the Mobile App!
Other important steps include completing all of the required compliance forms and checking your Account Settings to ensure all of the general settings align with your business strategy.
