Below, we walk you through the steps of connecting a smrtPhone account to your Carrot CRM.
After you have completed the initial setup, we recommend going through our New User guide to ensure your smrtPhone settings are exactly as you need.
Decide what type of user category you fall into.
Depending on whether you've used smrtPhone before or are brand new to the system, activating the integration with Carrot has different steps.
To set up your account, there are three paths you can take:
Path 1 - Move Existing smrtPhone Account
You have an existing smrtPhone account and you want to move it over to work with Carrot. This will disconnect it from your current CRM.Path 2 - Keep Existing Account & Create New One for Carrot CRM
You have an existing smrtPhone account, but want a new account to test with Carrot. This is a good option if you are not sure if you want to leave your current CRM - you maintain two separate smrtPhone accounts (for testing).Path 3 - New to smrtPhone
You do not have a current smrtPhone account and need to set up a new account.
If you have an inactive/canceled smrtPhone account and want to use the same email address, you should follow Path 1.
Path 1: Move your Current smrtPhone Account to Carrot CRM
If you have an existing smrtPhone account you can move it over to work with your Carrot CRM account.
Please note: once you complete this step your smrtPhone account will no longer be connected to your current CRM system and will only be connected to your Carrot CRM account.
🔀 To move from your current CRM to Carrot CRM:
When logged into your smrtPhone account, copy and paste the following link into another tab in your browser: https://phone.smrt.studio/setup/connectCrm
This will take you to the Connect CRM page and select the Connect to Carrot CRM button. This will redirect you to log in with your credentials.
Once completed you will be connected to Carrot CRM and no longer to the previous CRM
Path 2: Create a new smrtPhone Account while keeping the current one as well
If you have an existing account with smrtPhone and want to create a new account to test with Carrot CRM you can do so.
Please note: this will be a separate account completely and your numbers/call history/users will not carry over. (You can move numbers over to the new account from your old one at a later date if you wish, but it is not instantaneous and requires a request from support).
⚙️ To create a new account to test with Carrot CRM:
Log out of your existing smrtPhone account
Click on smrtphone.io/carrot (If it takes you to the Dashboard, you are not logged out fully. If this issue persists even after fully logged out, copy the URL to an incognito window to start fresh.)
Fill in the form and click Start Your Free Trial at the bottom of the form.
This will take you to the Connect CRM page and select Connect to Carrot CRM. This will redirect you to get the API Key.
Use the API Key from your Carrot CRM Page > My Settings page and select the Team.
Once you have logged in you will be asked to add your credit card information (for usage and also for when you activate your subscription) and to select a plan. We recommend the monthly smrtPhone Pro plan and use the coupon code our Support Team will provide.
The last step is to activate the subscription so the Trial Limitations are removed. You can activate it from the banner at the top of the smrtPhone Web App Dashboard.
Path 3: Set up a smrtPhone Account
🆕 To configure a new smrtPhone account from scratch, follow these steps:
Click on: http://smrtphone.io/carrot
Fill in the form and click Submit at the bottom of the form
Press on Connect to Carrot CRM to log in with your CRM data
To connect with your CRM you now need to add an API Key. This API Key is to be found within your main Carrot page, within My Settings
Enter the API Key/Token on the smrtPhone page, where it is required, and press Connect
Once you have logged in you will be asked to select a plan and enter your credit card information (for usage and for when you activate your subscription). This screen is also where you would enter any discount codes you may have received from Carrot CRM.
Connect to your Carrot Team by selecting from the drop-down menu
Complete the process with the Identity Verification
You will automatically be placed into a Trial Plan, which is a free 14-day subscription, but with limitations. If you want full use of smrtPhone, you must activate your subscription.
9. Now you begin to set up your smrtPhone and buy your first number!
